Spend hours and hours sifting through bins, boxes totes, and drawers trying to find enough bits to assemble this thing. Found everything except a thackery washer, which is an absolute miracle because just about every other part is a rare as rocking horse shit out this way. Was going to post it in the "What did you do today" thread, but it does qualify to go here.

Originals are super rare, replicas are being made though. http://www.cornucopia-enterprises.de/catalogue/main_catalogue1.pdf

Always thought Andre Dampers were over complex, massive and positioned to remove you chin in the event of those old rock hard Dunlop's letting go on the cobbles of European race circuits.

For those who don't know what they are or how they fit to a bike.

that is some busy looking mechanical kit ,i shudder to think  of the speed warbles them garden gates n shit were capable of when at full chat on the boil
those units probably got hotter than the pipes:D
This one is an upgrade on a 1930 ish rigid framed girder forked mongrel, so won't develop the BTU's it would on a garden gate. Certainly not with me on it. Slightly different than the one in jalsteve's photo in than it anchors to the fuel tank..... as if the tank needs more agitation sitting atop a long stroke thumper. The !950 Norton spare list shows it was standard on the 30M and 40M (Manx) and went for the princely sum of 3 pounds 7 shillings and 6 pence. As for my chin... I was actually thinking more about my scrotum when the bump start goes badly.

Thanks.. I actually stumbled across that site yesterday. I had almost given up searching for one more damper disc and figured I would be easier to search the net and see if any bits were available. The catalogue does mention spares for them. Wonder what the current price is for a complete one...I'll send them an email.
Have you dealt with them before?

if you are sitting on the rear pad atop the rear guard your chin will be 6inches to stern of the damper = in jeopardy.

Bumping these old bikes is easy, fuel on and then just put it in gear and roll back till on compression and push or buy one of these yellow things.

You are correct about the bump starting. This one was very well behaved and lots of fun. I assume it will be again once completed. Its not the bike I worry about, its me with my clapped out body. I live at the top of a hill, but one of those yellow things is on the list.
I used to live on a hill but not any more = Yellow thing, get a twin motor 24v type they'll start anything from newly built multis with tight engines to high compression Harleys!

Yes I have had stuff off them but I was years ago when they where UK based, now in Germany.
