I'm still here!<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>Here's where my project is at the moment. Not much progress has been made in the last few months. In my own defense, I bought a '79 DT250 to do some trail riding on and have been getting it up to snuff. I'm pretty happy with how it is now, so I'm starting back on the XS. It's a '74 that's going to be an old-school cafe racer. Think...something that wouldn't look too out of place sitting in front of the Ace Cafe around 1965, or so. As many others have done, I've fitted an XS750 tank, as it's shape more matches the theme. The triple clamps and forks are from a '73-'74 TX750 as it used 36mm tubes, compared to the early 650's 34mm and the later one's 35mm. The swingarm is also from a TX750 and is about 1/4" larger in diameter than the 650's. While the TX750 used a double disk set-up and would provide excellent braking without any BS it just wouldn't look right; and besides, I never claimed to be very bright. I had thought about using the 4LS drum from a Suzuki GT750, but the prices on those have gone crazy. Besides they're a tad heavy. An XS1 2LS was another idea, but it used a lug on the fork leg to hold it which The TX front end didn't have. So, what I've settled on is a 2LS front from a CB72/77. It uses a stay mount. Engine wise I'm planning on a 750 kit. How about posting a pic, or 2 or your XS?quote:
Other guys have posted here about their XS's, but I don't know if they're still with us.
