I always had a soft spot for 70s Suzuki GSs, so I bought one.

$400 for a bike that has 12,000 original miles, been sitting since 1982! Original owner was a prod. superbike racer here in socal, and was planning on building a liter-class bike. He wrecked his GS550 racing and was crippled, so didn't touch them again. His son is cleaning out the garage.

Bike's complete. I plan to restore cosmetically - frame looks good, paint is mostly good - and ride a little while then sell it.

Here's my blog and a pic (it's the one in the back, the other one is missing some parts):

Hell yea old Suzys rule! There's a 1000 w/paint like the one closest to the camera sitting in a backyard four blocks from my house. I've inquired about it but it's not for sale.

When I was in college I had an 82 Katana 1000. One of my best friends from high school still has it and last I knew had two more. He called me the other day to say he was coming home for Thanksgiving so I'm plotting which one(or two) of my bikes I think he should swap me for a Katana.

Yepper that's it. Although the one in the pic is the new Japanese-market bike they built a few years ago. I know I'll never get my old bike back. But when we bought it we got a wrecked one w/no motor as part of the deal. My buddy a few years later bought one that had been raced and used the street stuff off the crasher to put it back on the road. I'm hoping he'll part with that one. He called me out of the blue 5-6 years ago wondering if I might like to buy his Bimota, but he has never, ever, ever once offered to sell me back my old Katana.

But yea, getting kinda collectible, pushing ten grand and didn't sell; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=220169520647&rd=1

Yeah, Katanas are too rich for my blood :)

Nice design though.

I expect to just keep this one stock, but sometimes I start looking at all the vintage speed parts available for the engine and my mind starts to go wild.

Thanks for the heads-up Tex.

That GS750 was a nice one.

Got my bike cleaned up. Talked to the original owner and he dug out a set of 29mm Mikuni smoothbores (NEW!!!) a pair of vintage coils and a vintage aftermarket points set. Freakin' awesome.

Now I quess we don't have to wonder; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982...oryZ6027QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I don't know how you value such things, but ten grand give or take seems like pretty right money to me.

My plan to talk my buddy out of one of his somehow turned into me agreeing to store a rolling chassis indefinately while he builds a motor for it. I can pretend it's mine, maybe get someone to push me around the parking lot. LOL

I did find this one; http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/485988547.html
I called the seller yesterday. He said a guy from Seattle was supposed to let him today if he was gonna take it. He sent me more pics, said he'd owned it since 95, sounded like a collector. I really don't need another bike right now, but that one's a good buy. Famous last words...

Ratty,
My sign and decal guy has a soft spot for the Suzuki GS line. He and his brother own a couple of Katanas that can be seen along with some of their other bikes at the link below. I believe at one time one of the Katanas was for sale. I'm not sure if it still is, but I can ask if you like.

Bret,
Thanks for the offer, but I'm trying to let the feeling pass. I think if I did get one I'd like to start with either a not so nice one or one that had already been modded so I wouldn't feel bad hot rodding it a bit.

I sure do like that 69 Triumph on their site too.
