Found a cheap RD400 for sale locally. Very cheap. Has Bassini chambers, some brand of rearsets I've never seen, and a nice Yamaha sculpted seat.

Missing a few odds and ends, but its mostly complete. The headlight is too small to be a RD400 light, and someone ground off the fender mounts off the fork sliders. And the carbs aren't stock. I'll have to pop them off to see if they're larger than the stock 28mm, but it doesn't look like it.

And I got the Alfa to turn over today! :)
Good weekend.

Hmm, looks decent and quite salvageable. Nice how the seat's been done. Any Chambers besides DG are a plus. I've never had a set of Bassani's but I've heard they're pretty good. Ju$t how good of a find was it?

In the last pic, unless the image is reversed or something, it looks like there's a left carb on the right cylinder, I can see the choke lever on it. From here they look pretty similar to the stock 28mm Mikunis.

BTW I have some rearsets like that on my Cafe bike, and no idea who made 'em.

hey congrats on the alfa I have restored two of those the windshields are getting hard to find .But is always been in the top ten in the styling department in my book .The aluminum gets porous on italian alloy castings,so dont freak if you see anti freeze on the head after you just wiped it off ,Ive seen it happen to the best of them ,the gear boxes are good and the engines are fun.alfa parts do get ecentric, like fiat parts they will have the left rocker available but the right side is long discontinued .Welcome to the Italian connection, keep a bowl of pasta ready during working on it it helps fustration and makes you think like Enzo.

Im so far behind ,that I think Im in first.

Considering what some RD400s are selling for, this was very good.

But yeah, the carbs do have seperate chock levers. Which is wierd. But they do look to be stock sized.
And I think that's a stock Yamaha seat.
