I am converting a 1995 Honda Nighthawk 250 into a cafe racer with my son. We want to swap out the fuel tank? Any recommendations on fuel tank that fits without modification? Thanks

If I was going to replace a steel fuel tank with an upgrade, it would be a fibreglass or aluminum fuel tank.
Pretty sure anything that looks different is going to need a little creativity to put it on there unless it's just the original parts.

They are suppose to be rubber mounted so that vibration does not fracture the mount points, don't miss that step.

I'd haul the whole bike down there with that tank off and try some on if you can find a selection of tanks some place :I still look for the aluminum or fibreglass ones
... some of those custom tanks look like they were not ready for fuel taps, if the model came OEM with an aluminum tank, those are the best tanks to be had.

The stock tank. Everything else will need some kind of modification.

The bummer about a 250 nighthawk is that it is pretty much a standalone model, there isn't a more sporting european version you can snag a tank from like it's bigger brother the 750.

There is a specific reason why I go out of my way to tell people who want to undertake a project bike to look for one with a large aftermarket - if this were a SOHC cb750 or a bmw airhead, or even a cb350 you could easily buy and bolt on any number of tanks.

Reshape the tank that's on it with a facade. You can make it appear any way you want, do it in aluminum you can leave it bare.

Try a cb200T. I'll bet it would work.

post a few images of the turd with the gas tank removed
and give us a few dimensions
an important measure to change the look of a girls bike, like that, is distance from gas cap opening to the tunnel top
you want a tank with a very short measure there, to change the look of that bike,see
in my opinion the major stumbling block,for calf racer looks , is the high filler hump
but dont get me wrong the styling is very good,stock, if you went with flat track styling
cause it is meant to look, like the hrc short tracker image bike the ft500 ascot
it is such a tiny bike unless you guys are little people ,it wont be any fun with low bars and a lower seat you will be crunched and hunched

Here is my 73 ironhead sportster with a CB200T tank on it. This is the most current stage in its build progress and where it will have to rest until next summer when I can get back to it.
