had a "shift pawl spring" break on me today. 80 miles from home! leaves you in second gear w/ no abilty to shift whatsoever.

No neutral nothin'

It was fun riding another 20 miles in second gear to a friends where I could park the bike. Even more fun was the 2 hour bus ride home.

The tranny has to be pulled and disassembled to replace the $3.00 spring.

I couldn't even be mad about it, fukit it's all a freaky wild adventure whose next stop for me involves getting to know a certain german tranny. I just hope it don't take any time away from the 40 other pressing projects.

call bucky at bobs bmw today. hes extensdion 220. tell him i sent you. its probably a 3doallr part but will take 3 days of work to replace. actually, the bmw trannys are nice units. god knows what other seals and misc crap youll have to replace though.

second gear could be great on the right road back. when i was a boy, we used to push our bikes all the way home when they broke. of course they didn't weigh as much as a car.
