I was going to be changing the handle bars on my 75 Honda CB550 for more of a cafe look but I wanted to know if I switched it to clubmans or clip ons will it slap the gas tank? Am I better of getting drag bars?

you can point clip-ons in any direction you'd like...and clubmans should be OK. my wrists hate most clubmans and i've been known to hang some small cafe bars (small rise and little pullback)on the clamps upside down. it's not as drastic as clubmans and is a much cleaner look with the same effect if you ask me.

good luck with the new ride-

get clip-ons, the adjustibility is worth it alone. See if you can find the old style tomaselli ones that are fully adjustable - then you really have something.

With all this trendy cafer racer bullshit going around these days, clubmans are kind of becoming a cliche (read poser accessory). Nothing says "full race" like a pair of clip-ons.

oh, and you are going to have to convert your "inside the bar" switch wiring to "outside the bar" for either setup. It is not hard espically if you own a dremel tool.

I recommend Clip on bars by Telefix. I got a pair, and I will have those in my CB 750 F.
As of now I have Club Man bars. Not as good as the fully adjustable Telefix bars. With telefix, you will not hit your tank with the bars, You can position those so that your tank will be away from the bars on maximum turning point. You can adjust not only the horizontal position, but the vertical one. Check them out. You can see it in my Car Domain site, there I made a page for my CB750F.

See it and then tell me what you think.
