I know i have asked this befor but i have found a 1973 t500 front
and i havnt taken a good look at it but from what i could see it looked to be the same size. is it? or should i stick with the cb hub.
any help is great. thanks eric
It's not the same size. It's considerably bigger. The T500 is 200mm, the CB350 is 180mm...and kind of a weak 180mm. Actually the CB160 brake is better than a CB350.
A properly setup T500 will offer about 30-40% more stopping power than a CB350 brake.
Is this for a race bike or the street?
I wouldn't bother replacing it with a CB160....the swap should be very easy though. The 160 is a marginally better brake. Same size as the 350...but with somewhat better geometry and a higher quality level. Like steel pivot bushings, wrap around shoe pivots etc.
Before I'd swap in a 160 I'd just throw some Ferodo shoes in your 350...which can be had off the shelf from Vintage Brake.
