I have a 36 spoke CB77/72 front brake that I want to lace to the 19", 36 spoke front rim on a '74 XS650. Will this work without modification?

Almost more than possible...the CB77 used a 19" front wheel, and a 200mm front hub just like the older XS...heck, I bet XS or CB77 spokes would work....both used a flanged style rim too.

Well that's sorta what I meant. The CL77's used 19" flanged rims and a 200mm DLS brake....at least the ones I've taken apart. Not sure about the CL72, never had one of those in the shop. Now the CA77 used a smallish SLS brake...that's the 305 commonly known as the "Dream".

Didn't know the CB had 18" rims...makes sense though.
