Ah what did you expect - them to just shut down and not reopen somewhere else? It wasn't like they wanted to shut down.

I hate the homeless, and I hate organizations that feel so self righteous about helping them that they can arbitrarlily close down landmark places. It's bad for their profit margin so we have to kill history so we can make more money to help the homeless - bunch of bullshit.

Ironically the continental drift is also closing it's doors. Almost as famous a punk venue as CBGB it is disappearing as well.

You knew this all had to happen sooner or later after all the real punks left NY in the 80's.

(BTW I am only half kidding about the homeless remarks).

i'll be down in NYC this weekend for a visit, i would love to see CBGB's out but i got my daughter with me and that is no place for a 3 year old.....i may take her to see it though....

My neighbor works at CB's, they really fought.... but hell, times is diffrent. The Continental will re-open w/o live music, or so I heard. We'll see.

At least we still have squatters.
