Hey admins, please could you delete my last post relating to the CB125s, I always forget the engine is different.

So when I bought this bike (CG125 1993) it started, it needed a few good kicks, but it started. I figured it would just need a new carb. Note, that when I first got it, it ran without a battery attached.

I've since restored the bike complete with new carb, filter etc. But it now wont start. It gets a spark, and ticks over 2-3 times, but doesn't get to the point where I can rev it. I've tried the choke is each and every position too. I'm now out of ideas, do I need to hook up the battery, which wouldn't make sense as it worked fine before?
Any advice appreciated...

Every Honda single cylinder motor I have ever owned needed the valves set when they became progressively harder to start. I've owned some nice ones, the newest is a 2017 and it will likely need it done by next year.
