Cl175 Chain tensioner adjustment

I searched for a post about adjusting the 175 cam chain tensioner but didn't find anything. I just put the motor back together (ring gaps were good, as was piston clearance after checking again, Thanks JB) and I just set it like the Cb750, by going about 15* ATDC and tightening it there. I couldn't remember if the 175 was one of the ones that was supposed to be set running. The engine sounds relatively quiet and seems to run fine, anyway. Thanks, Jimmy

Jimmy,
Best way to set the 175 tensioner is to pull the plugs, loosen up the lock nut, back off the tensioner bolt....slowly turn the engine counter clockwise until you feel it trying to lift some valves....this puts all the slack at the back of the chain where the roller is. While holding the crank there, tighten the tensioner bolt. Then you can let go of the crank and tighten down the lock nut.

To check how well it's working. with the alternator cover still off, take off the point cover. Put a wrench on the crank and rock it back and forth...watch the cam/point cam, movement as you move the crank. There should be almost no noticable movement in the crank without also moving the camshaft.
