We are starting the final assembly on a 1970 CL350 motor and have a question on the timing mark and rotor.

we are at the point where we can reinstall the cam. the clymer manual is confusing. the manual says to turn the rotor until the LF lines up with the timing mark on the case. for the life of me, i can't find a mark on the case. any finding this mark would be appreciated.

Not sure about the 350, I have a 450 and the mark is on the "alternator" housing. If you took that off, now's the time to put it back on.

Been a little bit since I've timed a 350, but I recall it being on a little tang that pokes out from the housing around the rotor.

Did you remove the whole side case or just the round rotor cover? If I remember correctly, the mark is located at about 11 o'clock on the case as it sits bolted on the engine.

Oh yeah. It's that little notch in the 11 o'clock "leg" of your stator.
