I have a 73 cb350 where the coil and wires are one piece. one of my wires is busted at the elbow where it fits on the spark plug. I was thinking of cutting the wire in the middle and soddering on a new end. any better, cheap alternatives to this ghetto rig?

if it's just cracked at the boot, the boot should unscrew, then you can cut the bad part out, then rescrew the boot back on. you can get replacement coils for like 20 bucks i think from den kirk. but you'll need wores and boots for them i think. if you have slack though, inscrew the boot, cut it off, then put the boot back on. i do it all of the time. you should also be able to pick up some used coils on ebay for next to nothing. if i had any i could spare, id offer them up. i go through them on a regular basis though.

Turns out my coil was bad too. I picked up one at a junk yard for 30 bucks and put really trick new ends on them. Very happy with the results.
