Looks like IOM, looks like vintage, and it looks like it could've been so much worse. Style points for the dismount; almost as classy as Phinneous' on Monday.

I like how the corner worker picked up the front tire quicker than a NASCAR pitcrew, with no surprise.
Good thing he started slowing down before the dismount.

looks like he just plain forgot to wire the bottom of the fork.
That is a pretty old vid and has been on the net for a couple of years now - I remember eeading where somebody had an explination of what happened, who the rider was, etc... Ir I recall off the top of my head the rider had a tangle earlier with another bike, picked up the bike and kept riding but the front end has a bad shimmy in it. He was pulling into the pits when the axle snapped in half, he hits the barrier and it pulls the wheel out from under him. I'll look and see if I can find the link.

I like the way he appears to be afraid of the bike after he comes off...like it's going to attack him or something.

Yea, it is funny, the bike hops up in the air like a Kangaroo....seems like the axle broke and it was coming out slowly....it is cool that he is going slow, so it is mostly comical, nobody got hurt...but the rider made a bad mistake, if he knew he had that wobbly front end, why did he hit the curb?? that is the last thing I would had done.
Why did it jump up in the air?? not quite easy to see.....

aparently it is riders mistake, from what I can see, he had enough speed in his bike to jump free at the curb. Had the axle been in place, all he would had done is jump up and land down on the sidewalk, but he loses the front wheel in the impact, and lands on the forks and engine....ouch!!!<img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

I stand corrected..... in fact the rider never touched the curb!!! the slower he rode, the more intense the wheel wobble, to the point that as he starts to brake and stops , the front wheel/tire separates from the bike, because the bike has more weight, and since the tire/wheel is already separated ( perhaps a piece of axle bolt remained in place )..the tire stopped and remained behind , separating while the rest of the bike went over board....
Perhaps if he would had used only the rear brake......
Lucky for him it happened almost at a stop!!!!
