So, you inherit, embezzle, or perhaps save (?!) some money, let's say $10 Large, ten thousand dollars that is. Build your quiver of motorcycles, 'cause you lost all your current bikes in the flood, yeah that's it, insurance. You got paid the insurance money. Whatcha gonna buy now? 10 grand, make it last...

$10 large isn't enough for some of the bikes...pretty much leaves out any vincent,John Player Norton, ducati big bore bevels, and most 60's tuner bikes (egli, dunstall, etc...). Also $10 won't cover the price of a stock restored 1972 h2 or a brand new harley.

That being said i'll kick off with

1967 Norton Atlas
1972 Norton Comando
1970 BSA Rocket 3
1969 Kawasaki h1 500

and that store of bikes will pretty much wipe out 10K in a hurry (probably go over if you buy perfectly restored ones).

XR400 $1500 trail/ice/playbike
XR100 $1000 practice/race/playbike
XT500 $2500 Flattrack racebike
Japanese Big Twin (RC51 or TL1000) $4000 Streetbike
RD350/CB350 $1000 Vintage roadracer project bike
I'd have to wait for the next insurance check to get my british vertical twin. Then after that I'd still need something from the continent, unless I substitute a 900 Monster for the JBT...or possibly a BMW.

ok if I had to spend it all Id ,stuff the money in my pocket pick up my guitar and play Chuck Berry tunes while doing the "DUC" walk to the Ducati Dealer and plop down $9995.00 for a 2006 S2R 1000 .Take my $5.00 in change and go to the nearest Cafe and think of paying the insurance and sales tax, thats left to come.
One Bike that will do it all for me.

That's cool, as long as "do it all" doesn't include a trail ride with your buds. I'm not sure if I could be content with one bike, mainly 'cause I've been through times of no bike, wishing I hadn't sold what I had.
It's not that I'm particularly materialistic, most of the bikes that I own don't have a lot of value, just the potential to do different things.

well its the way with enthusiasts ..you hate to pass them up it used to be sports cars with me so I am going to try being more restrained .They all after awhile turn into places to dump money.
i have five bikes now so Im not doing well ...hey its not easy....thats why Im cafeing them and selling them so I can have fun building them and still see some money to build another..but I do tend to like the 450 twin so far its a strong mid sized bike .I like my license so Im not into risking it never have been I keep racing on the track and very defensively drive on the road full alert .
When im fully familiar with a road and where law enforcement hang out on that road, I will have a spirited run but thats about it .
One bike to ride, one bike in the wings is plenty ...I mean batterys, tires, mechanical things HATE sitting around ( right Geeto) they dont like being ignored in the corner they start to fall apart freezeup or just get gummed up.
You have to use them or you will lose them!

Hey <I sold a few Strats just because I couldnt play them all.I kept picking up the same two, sure I miss them but watching strings rust on them was ,much worse.Hopefully, they are now being played and not sitting Idol!
