A while back there was an article, in the 'files' section of the USCRA yahoo group, on re-keying a CB450 alt. to run as a magneto. Anyone here read it? Don't bother looking, it's no longer there. Luckily I downloaded it at the time. It was two articles, one from a 1969 Cycle World and some other by Hoyt McKagen(sp?) which was obviously more recent.

Anyway, I posted on it last year with no results. Seems like an interesting project.

Does anyone have any idea (or intrest in) what I'm babbling about?

I have both articles. I had hoped someone here had experience with the system... to give some input on whether or not its worth messing with.

Seems it would be a cheap way for someone to ditch the battery and charging woes of the 'total loss' system without the expense of a PVL.

If I can get my hands on the parts and an extra motor I'll experiment with it, anyone else interested can shoot me an e-mail for the articles.

That change plus a dyna S pickup to get rid of the points... very nice.
