A while back there was an article, in the 'files' section of the USCRA yahoo group, on re-keying a CB450 alt. to run as a magneto. Anyone here read it? Don't bother looking, it's no longer there. Luckily I downloaded it at the time. It was two articles, one from a 1969 Cycle World and some other by Hoyt McKagen(sp?) which was obviously more recent.

Anyway, I posted on it last year with no results. Seems like an interesting project.

Does anyone have any idea (or intrest in) what I'm babbling about?

yeah, hoyt could do stuff like that. you can still find the hoyt article online and around. maybe at eurospares.

If Hoyt said it will work than It will work. He did a lot of work on my homemade supersingles racebikes a few years ago and I was amazed at how well everything he did worked. I miss him he was really cool

I have both articles. I had hoped someone here had experience with the system... to give some input on whether or not its worth messing with.

Seems it would be a cheap way for someone to ditch the battery and charging woes of the 'total loss' system without the expense of a PVL.

If I can get my hands on the parts and an extra motor I'll experiment with it, anyone else interested can shoot me an e-mail for the articles.
