I've put up a poll on the USCRA Egroup to help the race directory or whomever decide if this should be a points race. Last year they said in 2007 it would be a points race. I see no reason it shouldn't be. But, regardless of your feeling either way. If you are a USCRA member that plans on attending and actually racing at this event.
Go here:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/USCRA/surveys?id=2513866

And enter your vote. You will probably have to be a member of the egroup and have a Yahoo ID etc to vote. If you can't vote there, email me your vote and I'll keep track of them.
Thanks,

The event that used to run out back is now being run on the main track. Just like all the other points races. Previously it wasn't a points event because not all classes were allowed to run on the "parking lot". But now that it's on the main track there is no reason it shouldn't be a points event like every other race on the main track. It's beyond my comprehension why anyone would NOT want points for finishing a race.

johnnyb, I agree with you 100%. What I don't agree with is mid seson changes. the powers to be knew it was going to be on the main track and should have announced frontier as a points race at the beginning of the year.

Well....you are correct about that...the ball was kind of dropped there by the bosses. But heck, we got months before that event, should be enough time to let everyone know.

I do kind of like the idea of a sort of extra points season finale...even like the John Strempfer attached to the race name :)
Not sure about double points...but something like 7 for a win etc would be cool. Would get people off their ass in Oct and out to the race track.
Like you say, considering it wasn't announced as it should have be prior to this season...double points would be a bit much for people that didn't work it into their schedule this year.

Could make for some interesting scenario's in scoring at the end of the year.

PS. For 7 points....yes I would race in the rain.

If it's no points I won't be going.

Seriously, driving out there for a one day event for no points... I got more important things to do that time of the year.

JohnnyB

PS. Just checked the poll...so far counting the people that have emailed me to vote it's 22 votes FOR points and ZERO votes for NO points. So obviously the membership is heavily behind a points race. I think turnout will be crap if they don't award points. Whats the motivation to go....I can go to a track day and get more track time for way cheaper if no points are awarded.
I used to go to the old Frontier events with no points because it was a very cool 2 1/2 day event...worth the trip. Bon-fires, big cook out, lots of fun. One day at the main track...non of that and no points too....no thanks.

yeah....and my sponsors don't back me unless i'm racing for points. then my endorsement contracts come into question. or maybe we can compromise and run FrontierLand just for owners points this season.

i'm all for points, but if the track is open and they're foolish enough to let me race on it...i'll be there.

EVEN though it will never happen again and it's not open for discussion; I scouted the old track last event and actually think it's feasible to run an event there. I'd run it in a heart beat even though it gets "intersting" doglegging around the Helipad fencing. In some ways it might be safer having to slow down thru that downhill backstretch. That was the balls flying down the hill and braking hard in the bumps. One of the few times that I've actaully got a little wigged out, carrying way too much speed for that corner. 4LS Grimecas rule.
Anyways points or no points, I'll be there supporting the club and voting with my participation for expanded race dates and point events.
If turns out to be the big double point/season finale shouldn't it be swapped (name wise anyways) with the Granite State Championship?

Well...when you decide to support the club and vote with participation....decide if you want to vote for one day no points events or weekend points events. Cause what you end up supporting is what you'll end up getting.

If it's a no points event...why not just make it a track day...everyone gets many times more track time, no grid marshalls etc needed. Lower entry prices for everyone etc.

Why a "pretend" race on the main track under the same circumstances as every other one day "real" race we have.

And I'm guessing the big annoucement will be about an event at this track http://www.thompsonspeedway.com/ Which might be cool if it's a weekend event...and it's only about 2.5 hours from me. That's the kind of event we need to support if we want to ever get more races at more tracks. Cause a low turnout at an event like that and it will never happen again.
I'm just guessing it's Thompson....problem there is going to be the club premidonas will not race there so use regular people will have to show up in numbers to support the event.
But I'm just guessing about that location. Hell....maybe we secured a weekend at NHIS...but I doubt it.

My main interest is whooping everyone's ass in a championship, I know that means there is something wrong with me, that I kinda like winning when I race. I've ridden enough years, and enough hours at triple digit speeds that I get my kicks from whooping ass, not just riding around a track. I can get way more excitment suckering some squid into a 140 mph race down some back roads and nearly losing my life. So I gotta have some extra motivation....like hammering Frank C. in the points race. Beating Frank C. and Aaron and the other fast guys in the class is not enough....I want to do the points dance all around their pit, take a points crap on their tool box, spray points pee on their tires.
Course I'd never go so far as to name myself "Champ" :)

points race? I voted yes and why? Well, I don't give a sht about points, quite the opposite of Johnny. I'm happy just making it round the track! But if you ride for bragging rights you should have to work for it.

Thompson? First off I want to say that if there is a way I can help make this happen please let me know! Seriously.

Something else to consider about adding these tracks to the schedule.. not only are you going to make this great club more accessable for NEW people, there are also throngs of OLDER racers (think Long Island or NJ!) who would never even consider going to New Hampshire or Virginia to race their old bikes. I bet if the Thompson or NJ tracks happen you will see people (and machinery!) coming out of the woodwork you never would have expected.

I looked at Thompsons web site. There is no track "map" that I could find and they say it is an oval. Is there more in the infield or an addition like at NHIS?

Sure would be nice to have a track closer than NHIS for us non New Englanders.
