last night i got hit by a car for the 1st time since i started street riding. (maybe about 12 years now) i was exiting the expressway and on the exit ramp which at the end there is a stop light. at the light the intersecting road is one way to the left. so the 2 lanes the ramp turns into are either a left turn only lane (the left lane) or a left turn only lane/ go straight lane (the right lane) to continue straight ahead. there are signs on the road and on the wires above. so i come rolling around the ramp, i see the light just turns green from about maybe 200 feet away. ive already slowed down since i was on the ramp, and i thought i was going to have to stop. maybe down to about 15-20 mph. i was in the right of the 2 lanes. i give the guy in the left lane, there were only 2 cars there, plenty of room figuring he might be out there doing something weird since he probably didnt see me roll up. so i give plenty of room, tip in to the left and bang. right into his front passenger fender. he was going straight from the left lane. he hits the brakes, and stops, and i just keep going. after we get through the intersection, i point to the sky, like as to say, "didnt you see the fucking sign??" then take off. at the next light i turn around and look at the guy and do the same thing. at which point he realized he was wrong and just kind of made that im an idiot face and put his hands up in the air. i have a tire mark on my engine cases now, and a scuff on my clutch lever. but i have a feeling his brand new saab has a pretty nice scratch in it and a dent. (heehee) we didnt bother to stop or anything. i just waited to see what he was going to do, which was nothing, and then took off. 2 good reasons i was lucky and he was lucky. if i had been in my truck, he would have seriosuly fucked his car up if he hadnt seen me comming. and, i was lucky enough to think ahead and not bomb into the intersection at a good speed. if i had been going faster, comming in tighter, trusting that guy, he probably would have knocked me down. all in all another fun night with cages.
