Check out this interview of a car dealer who is giving away an AK-47 if you buy a pickup from him. The liberal newscaster tries to shake him, but he doesnt flinch a bit.

dude sounds like a nut job. This is a freaking train wreck. Still he has a point, and he found a way to tap into his target market, he is not doing anything illegal, and it seems he is taking the proper approach. If he is willing to subsidize car selling by tapping into a market where his customers would already be purchasing said guns anyway.

if he had stuck to the script he would have made an intelligent, coherent argument that would have been hard to argue against. Instead he goes off script and firmly plants the soap box the moment he starts talking about that family in california. he had a chance to appeal to a broader base in america and instead he took the jangoistic and narrow god/christian/guns/look at me I am a redneck approach. Just sad.

"the only police I need is a chamber in the round" - holy hell.

"you don't have a problem with god, do you?" - cause I'll shoot you if you do.

"I believe [jesus] would carry a sword if he needed it" - I am totally putting this on a t-shirt.

for the record, I am not anti-gun. I am not liberal or conservative (I am a-political). I believe with ownership comes great responsibility and as long as you exercise that responsibility and care more power to you.

"how about that guy that just had him and his wife killed that had the 12 children with the 7 guys coming through the door. I gaurantee ya he wishes he had an ak-47 as those maggots busted through his door and slaughtered him and his wife in front of his children"

That's some good english talking right there, I tell you what. When you begin to make less sense than a NASCAR driver during the post race interview, you know you are in over your head.

And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one".

God, Guns, Guts, and American pick up trucks. All the Hot buttons in one thread.

I wonder if this will live to see lunch time before its blasted into interweb hyperspace.

I want an AK47. Maybe I should head down and buy a truck from that guy.

Just because he doesn't use proper grammar doesn't mean he's a wacko.

no, he is a wacko for other reasons.

But it is obvious he has people that prepped him for this and after the initial lead in he threw out the script and their training and winged it. If you want to appeal with your message to a broad mass of individuals speaking clearly and plainly is probably the best way to do it....well...because that way people understand what you are saying. If you want to appeal to a very small base and polarize a room/orginization/nation then hell do whatever you want, throw slogans out there, make up words, sky's the limit. The moment he started his speil, his credibility went down with everyone outside his already very limited target audience. Part of me wonders if he is not more eliqouent in real life and he was partly hamming up his folksy nature for the camera. Another part of me just feels sorry for an individual who has less of a grip on the english language than most of the 6th graders in NYC.

there is a time and a place to be professional and a time and a place to be a jackass. Unfortunatly he chose to be a jackass and even if he was right, by just being all redneck-y about it he loses some of the impact his message would have otherwise had.

BTW, loves me some squidbillies.

I wonder if he's offering Obama's "cash for clunkers" deal along with the AK-47? Pretty damn ironic!

that would be kinda cool. Trade in the ol' rusty American Made Chevy and the remmington for a nice new Russian klashnikov and a shiny new Mostly overseas made Chevy. Sounds super American to me!

oh my.

well here goes nothing: i gotta say i am not anti-gun, but i am for some level of gun control (dont know exactly what, but im willing to talk about it). i do resent in general labels like conservative and liberal, but maybe that just because of my post-modernist generation (go ahead and write it off). i dont mind disagreeing with folks, eurago, but i would sure appreciate it if you could try not beginning threads with the assumption that everyone on this board is of like mind.

i have never considered myself a conservative or a liberal, i consider myself a moderate. i am conceded to the fact that political institutions are unable to completely solve man's ills, as they are run by humans (who, according the ethos of many of our founding fathers, are basically evil--thus the checks and balances). i am also under the belief that balance is in order; that is to say we need people who disagree with each other to take turns running various offices of government so that we can maintain a balance in policy.

i voted for mr. obama. no shame about it, either. although i have already been disappointed with some of his actions, i think the president's got a lot of the right ideas. in terms of foreign policy (making friends instead of enemies) and economic policy (lots of inventive new programs to help out anyone and everyone who may be having a rough time in the US) i am generally supportive. im also pretty sure the US is pulling out of the economic slump. my investments have earned 30% since march. not a bad recovery--now they had lost some 45% of original value since jan 2008, and so still have a way to go, but its a start.

this is turning into a rant. thats probably because this isnt the first time someone has begun a conversation with "liberal so-and-so did...to this true-hearted american, and obama is a muslim socialist terrorist." i can only tolerate so much belligerence. in the words of pop-eye, "thats alls i can stands, and i cant stands no more." you probably have some valid points and i dont mean to belittle them, but how about a little diplomacy and tact, eh?

also, one more thing:

a close (or not-so-close) anaylsis of the text reveals that jesus does not take weapons upon himself. that said, he is also god-incarnate (i.e. not merely human--different rules apply to him and us/all humans), and does seem to say that there is a time and place for many things, even violence in this case. additionally, scholars point out that the presence of swords was necessary in the garden as jesus is arrested to fulfill prophecy about the christ being numbered among transgressors (a few verses later when peter attacks one of the servants). jesus, however, rebukes peter's violence and heals the man. one of the other gospel authors records jesus saying that, "those who live by the sword will die by the sword," as both a warning and a matter of practicality. in this he seems again to rebuke the use of violence. that, at least, is my interpretation.

well, now we all know a little more about me, and i feel a bit naked putting it out there, but there it all is anyway.

I don't think you're getting Russian for $450.

Commodify your faith and your discontent in one convenient purchase: Chevy and Kalashnikov.

sounds like vouchers for meth lab startup kits would do even better.

cheers, bcr

Spaceman...didnt intend to bash the liberals, or anyone else. I'm pretty moderate myself, with a lean towards the right. Lately, I've been more cynical than anything else...a little frustrated and kind of fed up. There's a certain amount of common sense that needs to be appllied to, well, basically everything, including gun control....and car salesman! The dealer sure isnt erasing any stereotypes with his comments, but what he is doing is living his american dream, and with this effective ad campaign, probably selling lots of cars!

As Retro says "only in America!"
