Hi guys,

This is my first post. Feel a bit like a virgin!

I just bought a Suzuki GS450E 1983 with the idea to convert it into a Cafe racer.
The current gas tank on the bike does not have the look that I have in mind for my perfect cafe racer.

I want to swap the gas tank for a GS450 1981 tank.
My question is would the 1981 gas tank fit on my bike and are there any other alternative gas tanks that would fit that would provide the same cafe racer look?

On Ebay there is alot of 1980-1982 gas tanks for sale, but do not say they will fit a 1983 bike.

Lpst, Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I am here to learn as much as I can.

From what I found, the 83 has different tank mounts at the rear but with a bit work an 80-82 tank should fit fine. Like witworth said, get a tank and try it, if its not what you like then you can always re-sell it.

Virtually every tank swap involves a good whack with a hammer, and dicking around with mounts.
