So my bike was getting really hot sometimes this summer, so I tried some header wrap. It is coated with a copper colored thermo-tec coating. The bike was too black in my opinion. Anyone else tried this? I've seen one other bike on this site with wrap, without coating.

Heatwrap helps channel out exhaust heat but don't really see how it will help you bike run cooler significantly . They say some extra HP as well but I've done it and haven't noticed jack. The bike does seem to idle smoother for some reason though. To me wrap is the stuff that you either put on pipes so you don't burn your ass or if you're just fucking tired of polishing back blued pipes . That's if you polish them of course.......
If you want to help your bike run cooler look into a larger oil tank or installing an oil cooler .

And I'm going from what you wrote because all I see is a little white box with a red X in it. :D

If your header pipes are so hot their heating up your oil and engine therefore causing your bike to run hot then I think it'll solve your problem. How can you tell your bike it running hot or is it liquid cooled and you have a temp gauge on it? I usually just installed header wrap to keep the heat in the pipes from melting things around it. But...but...then again, keeping heat inside your exhaust helps exhaust gases travel faster.

on cb750s, 550s, basically any sohc 4's the exhaust runs right next to the oil filter. Sometimes custom pipes will run too close to the oil filter and raise the oil temp. This is the only case in which I think header wrap will make a significant difference in oil temp. On a standard cb though it does seem to have a marginal effect. However an oil cooler kit is readily available for these bikes and looks 10 times more race than header wrap (although the copper header wrap does look cool).

my advice, find out what is making your bike "overheat" in the frist place and fix that instead. Most often it is some sort of lean condition (like air sucking past the intake manifolds). how do you know when a SOHC4 is overheating? It detonates more then me after a baked bean eating contest. Seriously, it will sound like you are riding a giant coffee can with a bunch of rocks in it.

I have noticed it running cooler, plus a better idle. I don;t notice any gain or acceleration, just seems a little smoother.

Also guys, I think the 59 makes it faster(actually painted on) as well as my castrol sticker on my helmet. They both make an added 8hp!!

It depends on how far down the pipe you do. I used a 50ft roll of 2in wide and that got all 4 headers with a little left over. I would say grab a 25ft roll of amazon and use the 1inch wide. You would have a lot left over if you used 2 inch. I also think some offer a 15 ft roll wich would work too.
