Hello, I am yet another new guy.

I have been riding motorcycles my whole life and recently have been looking into picking up an older street bike. I have been riding motocross mostly but I am in an area and situation that lends itself to a riding on the street.

I have been lurking around here for awhile trying to get a handle on turning an old CB, or GS into a Cafe'. I am going to pick up a bike soon but I have been (trying) to do as much research as possible so I am not just another bandwagon jumper and I can build a bike that is going to give me the riding experience that a true cafe is intended to give.

I have been in the manufacturing industry for most of my adult life building scooters and my father was a mechanic so needless to say, I enjoy the fabrication and wrenching almost as much as riding.

I look forward to being a part of this forum and hope I will be able to give back some of the advise I am sure I will be begging you guys for in the near future.

yeah I saw you hanging out there draging you knee and no one noticing, its not the norm just the sheer new members weekly ,lately has been growing, its awesome Cafe the Nation and pull up to a cafe bike if you see one and say hi.
I almost hit people riding cafe bikes I see, with my van, trying to get them to pull over and talk cafe bikes. So watch out for All wheel drive, white Astro Van in your rear veiw, if your in florida.
I saw an older guy on a cb 450 black bomber and acosted him at an intersection except for my smile, I think he thought I was going to rob him..the surprized look on his face as a white van slammed on the brakes to say hey cool bike.oh well!

Im so far behind ,that I think Im in first.

thanks all,

I will be sure to search any topics before I post, and do my best to contribute where I can.

I now live in WA state, relocated from Nor-Cal (recently), I dont see many Cafe's here, mostly older guys on Heritage Softail's or Road Kings (*sigh).

Any advise on what bikes I should consider at this point? I have been looking at Honda CB550 and 750's as well as the Susuki GS's... I had a KZ1100 in high school and that seems like it would be a good candidate.

any others?
