mick,

welcome! beautiful sfc you have there. i was lucky enough to mentor under lance weil (rickey racer) the former u.s. laverda importer until his untimely death. i saw more and learned more about laverdas in those few short years. seeing your bike brings back many fantastic memories, so thank you.

tex

p.s.- you might remember lance (depending on your age) as the former british national roadracing champion (1967 & 1968 harley davidson 750 stuffed in a featherbed manx frame). man, i miss my pal lance.

I once rode with a few guys, one dude with his GF was on a 750 twin similar to the one pictured above (but nowhere near as tight as that), anyway, that bike was keeping up with us with no trouble at all, us being a friend riding two up on a VFR750 and me on a Ducati 888. All I could think of was that my 750 Bonneville would've been left for dead on the mountain roads we were riding, but the Laverda was up to it.

I was told the 750 (SF?) twin had around 70 BHP, which would make it stomp on a stock Bonnie.

yep, that did it. spondon frame custom made. all carbon fiber body (handmade by lance). bored, stroked, with everyother go-fast goodie put into it as only a master builder with 40+ years working and racing motorcycles can do.

lance was amazing. the only american to work for AMC in their race shop. raced iom tt and the southern 100. raced for american kawasaki under bob hansen (on h2's - the green meanies with paul smart and gary (ugggh) nixon). raced afm, wera, ama camel series, and for oscar liebmann and the amol precision shop (rennsport bmw's). the list goes on and on. i wish and regreat not videotaping and recording the history, the whole story. it was better than a mick walker read. again, thanks mick (helmetbolt) for the memories. i'm off to have a drink and think of my old pal lance.

Hi Tex.

I remember reading a few articles on Lance in the ILOC magazine. It was sad to here of his untimely passing last year.

This is a shot of my first 750S a 1970 model. It was a plain jane until I sourced some parts & painted it.

I have also owned a Jota, RGS Corsa & two Montjuics.
