So a couple of nights ago I'm preparing a new Pertronix unit for my bike and getting ready to JB WELD the back cover onto the magnet ring to prevent the dreaded Mosport magnet ejection. For whatever reason I held the magnets against the tube marked "steel hardner" and they stuck. Seems it's not just a space age polymer, there is some amount of metal in it.
What I'm wondering is if I run a line of JB Weld around the base of this magnet ring is it gonna rob spark energy. I didn't have any trouble on the last bike (DCH's bike) but I did burn out one Pertronix and wonder if this might have had some effect.
