The manufacture sticker on the inside says January 2006. I've only ever had people look for the Snell sticker, never the manufacture sticker, but figure that may get examined more closely this season.

Jack- I sure don't know. My question was more of how my helemet relates to the 5 year old rule. Am I at 5 years this year, or did I get 5 seasons out of it already.
Helmets don't have to be expensive to be legal so it's not a big deal to replace it.

As a helmet sales person, this is what I have heard from Arai at least....

After about 5 years, the helmet material starts to breakdown. This is caused by things like sweat, etc. It also kind of depends on how much you wear it. But overall, I know Arai has a 5 yr rule and I abide by it.

From the Arai site:
WARRANTY
All Arai helmets are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, and are serviceable only for the properly fitted* first user for 5 years from date of first use, but no more than 7 years from date of manufacture. It should be replaced within 5 years of first use.
