Hey Guys, I just spent my weekend pulling apart my GS550, it is a 1981. I was looking at the carbs and took them out of the bike to find where fuel was leaking to fix the problem. After researching online, I saw that there are different models for the GS and also the Carbs have two different models (X or Z). There are slight differences but how do I know which is mine? The ownership didn't tell me, I am unclear on how to decode the vin but I am Pretty sure, but not certain, that it doesn't contain that info? I need help, I want to start purchasing parts for the bike and restore it but I don't know where to begin. WHile I have your attention, the carbs on it, are they any good? DO they just need some TLC or what is a good place to start to restore the performance of what used to be a beautiful machine.. Thanks!
