nah...33. there are some very talented people involved with this site. plenty of knowledge out here. even the guy who runs the site can be pretty useful!! aaron is a welth of knowledge. if you have any question about brit parts, he IS the guy to ask. id rather ask him than ask some shop owner or some parts kid. i learn new things all of the time from these guys. some questions have too many answers though. some questions dont have answers. like, where can i find a cheap aluminum cr750 replica tank. (not that someone has asked that question). im sure if there were answers to questions, and people knew what they were, theyd be answered. hey, why do you think they call things "hard to find bits"??? if you have a queston, feel free to fire away. and hey, what kinda cars??

Well... I like slot cars. Are you talking to me? You must be sponsored by Barnett, giving Jeremy credit and all. We're going to have to change you profile name to Clutch. Jeremy does actually know more than he lets on, he just never responds to messages. Just an FYI... I can help out with the Honda questions, I just try not to.

are you using honda as a verb now???

funny

i know you know about the japananese stuff. you just seem better with the britty stuff. are you ready for mid o?? maybe you can tell me what kind of wheel i have sitting here. its a 180mm w/40spokes. it has no speedo drive associated with it. i have no backing plate for it. it has a rubber seal on the outboard side of the drum, where the speedo drive would typically be for a 305 or 450 drum. another mystery part that must have fallen into my back yard and i didnt notice it. i dont know how i get some of this stuff. probably would have been great for the race bike front end since the bearing is sealed. i asked marshall and he didnt know.

when will you have the track set up in the van?? i'm dying to give it a try.

Well, currently my daily driver is an '89 Honda CRX Si.
Quick little car, and like my bike, CHEAP. My project
car is way nicer, 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe. I like my
cars and my bikes oldschool. The CRX is a cool commuter car
but lacks the style I'm craving to roll around in. I like Hondas,
but despite my age, the fast & furious crowd really isn't my style.
I like my cars big and chromey, like my Cadillac.

I didn't mean to insult anyone on here with my last comment,
it just seems like everytime I come on here, which is daily,
it's a wasteland. I wanna see this place hoppin'. And I want a
t-shirt.

The only questions I've had lately are: What's a good paint
stripper for my bike (Gastank and whatnot), Which I found out
on crx.org. Kleen-Strip, $3.99 a bottle, that stuff strips paint
with incredible speed. My other question is, where the hell can
I find a TT-Style seat for my CB500T (A bike which, nobody else
but me and one guy I've came across actually likes..)

So I've been discouraged a bit, but I've been proceeding
nevertheless.

Joe,
Do you have a picture of the brake? I honestly had put the slot car set on the back burner. Only because the vintage Scalextric stuff was costing me a fortune, but i may actually have something for the vintage festival in August. Also, no mid-ohio for me cause I didn't pre-register. I emailed someone with AHRMA to try and find out if I could still race... it was a definate no go.

The best paint stripper for buck is fire. Burn the paint off. It doesn't put little dents in it that are hard to sand out from sandblasting and it takes only a 1/4 of the time to paint thinner/stripper. Also if you have any rust, you wont be taking the life away from the metal. If you saw what we use to remove paint at the shop you'd laugh. It runs off of a propane tank from a gas grill. Anyway my buddy Hutch has been painting for about 40 years and he says its the best all around way of doing it. Hes definately a strange one but very resourceful.

Bullitt,
Define what you mean by TT seat. Is what you're looking for like a boattail seat, or like a Harley XR750 seat? Either way I may be able to help.
Bret @ Glass from the Past

Bret, Bret, and Bret,
That happens to me a every so often just based on the way the message board caches and refreshes. I know you are not the type of guy who blasts his name all over the place, but I was wondering if you'd put a picture of your glass on the message board every so often with your info.

Thanks, Aaron

fire, what a kick ass idea!! too bad about mid o. i should have dropped you a line earlier to remind you. sorry bro. are you still going to go?? mikeo is going you know? i'll get a pic of that brake drum today. im with you bullitt. the bigger and heavier and shinier, the better. some of the cars these guys put together are cool too though. i also like the 500t. there should be alot of glass that will fit that bike. ive found that glass sometimes fits many different bikes or can be made to.

I believe and maybe Bret can jump in on this one, the Aermacchi/Ducati tank Bret sells will fit the 500t with some brackettrey (like that) and is probably a very close shape to the Honda 450 Production race which the 500t is derived from. I think I make up more words and their spellings than any oher uneducated hick out there.

Bret, I have some pics of what I want the seat and rear glass to
look like... Can I email them to you? Looks similar to the
"boattail for the norton commando" on the site you referred me to.

Thanks for the response gents.

I come from the land of uneducated hicks and the obesity epicenter
of the world, Michigan. I hear lots of made up words everyday, so
don't feel bad.

Well, I checked the seats some more.... Boattail "A" and "B"
(Both for "Narrow" frames) Are cool, exactly what I'm looking
for. I'm gonna cut my rear fender up so the tail peeks out.
My only problem then would be how to mount the brake light/
license plate. (BTW, Can anyone recommend a smaller, more
60's style brake/tail light? Mine's the size of a brick.)

Are either of these seats gonna fit my bike? It says "fits many
Japanese lightweights"... Is the 500T a lightweight? It sure is
a handful for me to move around...;)

I'm stripping the gastank as we type, I debadged & de-striped it,
it's got a couple dents and the gascap is pretty pockmarked...
Should I scrap it and go after another style tank?

I paid $300 for this bike, so I'm not quite into the red as to
how much I've spent. I'll be needing a new exhaust, and some cables.

So looks like I was wrong, you guys are helping a bunch already.
and a week ago I gave the guy at loudfastugly.8m.com you guys as
my referral for finding the site, if that counts for anything. =)

gas tanks arent too hard to come by. ebay has em all of the time. bret can probably hook you up with a cool one. as far as tailights go, since you are a car guy, teardrop ford tailight w/bluedot is my fave. i bought the light and someday will be able to get it into my fender. rockymountain motorworks has em. they are a vw place. also online too. small (not always a good idea) and trick looking. it might take somework to get it in, but very cool. then you just need a small bulb and bracket for the plate. easy to fabricate or buy from some of the custom shops i'd imagine. we should see a pic of this thing when its done.
