50cc racing looks like a hoot, so I just got (hopefully) a good deal on a Honda MB5 race bike, along with a 2nd bike, some engines and other parts. Is anyone here running one? Advice, sources, etc greatly appreciated.

I will pick them up Friday. The race bike was last run at NHIS in 02 or 03---it has a Whizzer gas tank on it, maybe some of you are familiar with it?

Race bikes are like damn Doritos, you can't have just one!

hey jacko, just like you, I started acquiring race bikes . . . a little advice . . . . just concentrate on one for a few years. There are too many distractions to get involved with more than a cb in your first year. Just my two cents.

Good advice.
The first couple of years you just want track time and no problems. I've worked my way up to three reliable race bikes now but it was a long haul. And two of them are exactly the same which makes things easier.
Learning the ins, outs, parts and nuiances of two bikes at the same time can be daunting the first year.
Typically takes me three years to get a bike sorted to my liking.

Tex,

The guy said there were enough parts to make a 2nd bike, but not sure what I would want to spare.

I have 2 honda Sport 65's that could be made into one. You can run a 65 in the 50 class. I would sell the pair for $200. I just don't have the time or ability to build one up. They are complete except for the front fenders.

Probably I should have bought a low maintance Reiju, but I only had so much money in the race bike fund, and the MB5 was a real good deal.
