Just wondering if there is a small market for aluminum parts (engine brackets, kickstands, brake rods, rear sets)for cbs and xss? Ive got a few of each and i am a machinist. Ive been working on a Cl450 for a couple of years on and off and it has some goodies All made by me. Ill try to get some pics up.

Sweet can only be completely appreciated if you have experienced sour.

Yea. Cafe guys are cheap bastards. Ill do it myself kinda people. the oppisite of the "genuine assesories" factory zombies.
Well for those who want to make their own rearsets for a CB/CL450 this is what I did and it worked perfect.
Mounts - Take two 3 1/2 long 1"round tube and notch it on both sides. one notch for the frame where the rear peg mount used to be. and one notch for a 1 inch long by one inch round solid drilled and tapped in the middle for mounting the stock rear pegs. The distance between the notches will be 2 1/2 inches.
Shifter - Take the shifter cut about an inch off the end and machine a new aluminum peg. mount the peg on backward. Instant race pattern and very simple.
Brake - Take the bolt that holds the right side peg on. Cut it off so it only goes in half way into the 1 inch by 1 inch solid round when holding the peg on tight. The brake piviot (block?) is a made from 3/8 X 3/4 cold roll and is mounted from the oppisite side of the peg bolt with its own short sholdered bolt (take care in making the bolt just the right length so the bolt isnt too tight on the pivot but is tight on the end of the peg mount bolt. the forces on the ends of both bolts eliminate the need for lock washers.) the block is drilled in the center to loosely fit beween the sholderd bolt and the peg mount. I welded a bent 3/8 solid steel rod on the bottom of the pivot block (shaped like a little hocky stick) and machined an ear on the top. drilled the ear for the shortned brake rod......Ta da. Eazy as pie.
I have a cb750 supersport tank mounted on my CL which makes the seating positon about 5 inches back further than stock. Perfect for my 5'10" 165lbs.
The "look" is accurate for the bike looks like it could have been made with care in the day. Not too techy and not cobbled. Simple.

Oh yea I forgot.
I thought a kit would go over good for a cb450.
Front motormounts
Rear motormounts
Rear brake rod
Front brake rod for drum
brake adjuster bolt and barrel
shifter peg
rear set mount
rear brake pedal
aluminum kick stand and mount
cb750 tank mounting hardware (or not)
Wiring diagram for batteryless operation......
I agree about the 750 rearsets. Man. Ive seen some on ebay go way high. And Ive seen the rask sets for 650xss and they are garbage.
