This is the engine cover that goes over the chain sprocket on my '76 CB750 F.

A screw goes through there and goes into the transmission casing. It looks to me like it is just there for stability of the cover. Anybody know if it's a problem if that screw is missing?

Don't know the specific bike, but if there's no oil inside the cover then it shouldn't be a problem if one screw is missing. If there's oil in there, then you'll have problems...

I had one of these a while ago.
If memory serves me well(!?) then it's only there as a shroud and is not oil bearng, so you'll be fine. If the cosmetics piss you off then just get it ally welded and scurf it down gradually to the correct shape then polish it up to blend it in.

It doesn't hold oil so that's pretty much what I figured. I'll get it fixed eventually but I have more important things to do to it right now.
