Forgive me for some of my questions, but much of this is new to me. More modern bike's i'm familiar with, but nothing internal engine-wise. Anyways, is this a normal amount of soot-black stuff???

The bike has almost 6000 miles.

Cool thing about this bike is i'm learning alot already.

Looks a bit rich to me. I notice it's lighter and cleaner as you get closer to the valve.
Have you been putting around on it? Might look that way with a lot of cold running or choke use.

i've never run it..... yet. I just want to make sure it's not really bad or something I should really worry about. If it's just a little rich ,i'm not worried, i'll try to tune it out at a later time.

those carbon deposits in the exhaust ports are actually quite an effective thermal barrier and serve very well to reduce the amount of heat absorbed by the head ensuring most of the wasted heat exits the exhaust pipe
