why fix it??? i dont see anything wrong with it. dude, i hope you have a nice shop. that looks like some pretty serious work. when you say sill, you mean the sill plate or the window sills?? looks like alot of work on a ladder/plank, unless you have some stage. how much electrical service do you have?? the inside isnt bad though. although dropped ceilings scare me. damned, good luck man.

yes, sill plate. one spot has water damage where there used to be a deck but they didn't flash it properly. no ladders for me. my folks build houses and they're going to come out this spring with a couple of their guys and their staging to help me do it.

its a four unit so three apartments pay my mortgage. I just have to pay the utilities on it. I do at least have a full basement so no more storage units.

yeah i was going to ask about the basement. you could bust a hole through the foundation regrade the area and put in some double doors. that way you could roll in and roll out. rental units are definitely the way to go. especially if you can live there and babysit the property! its good you have some serious help comming, otherwise you know how thses things turn out. even with my shop, were not looking for anything too bad. especially rotted sill plates. i thought i could see into the framing in that one pic. i actually didnt think you ever used flashing with shake or clapboard. isnt that what the starter course is for?? to divert? eh, whatever. i was never really into framing and that stuff. way too much complex geometry.

later
congrats and good luck with it man

Jeremy,
Congradulations on the home. I think the house looks vunderbar. Also I just came in from putting the new blower motor in the Van... so we will be warm on the way to Florida. Can you fix Strempfers forum account, he can't login?

Hey Jd,
Looks to be a fairly straight looking place anyways with a lot of cosmetically challenged areas. Should be a nice place when done. One of the pics shows a nice car in the neighbors yard, you know the girly red car there. Bet the driver is a cutey. You sly one you.

blower motor, we don't need no stinking blower motor

that girley car put a smack down on your big 350 coming out of the tolls that day, did she not?

yes, I am a hotty and the seat goes real low so there's plenty of headroom. and any days that my ego gets abnormally large from spankin' V8's I just crank open the sunroof and let my melon get some air

the house is definitely cosmetically challenged but sturdy and sound. the siding and maybe the window will get done this spring and it'll be looking much nicer.
