Jack - I got the leathers and they just fit...very snug in the upper body.... Inseam is perfect but the upper body is just a bit short to the shoulders. I can live with it, but it won't be very comfortable. What size leathers and brand did you pick up? Maybe we can meet up in the next few weeks and swap leathers if it works out that yours fit better for me and vis versa. Let me know.

Peter,

My leathers are pretty good in the upper body for me but the legs are about 7" too long. They are a size 50. I don't think I could wear a 46. My chest is 46 and my 48 two piece set is snug. I want to wear a separate back protector so I need at least the 48.

What size jacket do you usually wear, and what is the inseam on your leathers?

My leathers are not a name brand. Make in Pakistan--seem well made but armour is a little thin. I am afraid I will need to get a custom made set, or a better two piece. I don't want to invest the money in custom until I do a track day or two and am sure I want to stick with it. I think a custom vanson set is like $1500.

If we are both going to look for a 48, maybe we should let each other know so we don't bid against each other.

Jack - It is a 48 teknic...if you go to their webpage it provides all the measurements. The pants are a 32 inseam. I think I will make do with these....now that I have walked around the house a bit....lol

Peter,

If you decide your leathers won't work, maybe we could trade. I will check out the size chart.

Cool pics. Nice bike! I would like to try the tail of the dragon someday. A buddy did it a few years ago with his 64 Austin Healey Sprite. I could use a bike or my Miata.

I don't have a sport bike, my big road ride is HD Sportster, but my daughters boyfriend has left a Suzuki Kantana 600 on my porch for the past 3 years so I may try to get it going some time. Or, a guy is interested in trading a Geezer Wing for my 200cc Ariel--I am not crazy about that, but maybe at least my wife will ride on it, which she won't do on the sporty.

Tex,

The only markings in the suit are

Leather Paradise
Top Quality racing products

Then on the little size label, "made in Pakistan"

They seem pretty well made, perforated, velcro for knee pucks (or in my case since the legs are way too long, shin side pucks) Double stiched etc. Definitly not Vanson, but OK.

You have something with shorter legs to trade???

imslow,

Yeah, now I remember that infield shot of Tex. All his leathers probably have that silver g-string applicaque too.

If only I could find leathers for a short fat guy, but without the added features tex has. Maybe it would be easier and cheaper to lose 25 lbs..... NOT

tex = 6'1" & 145lbs (curently ten pounds over race weight).

i take "skinny little shit" as a compliment, however

i prefer "aerodynamic and cute."

Jack - I think the inseam on the leathers I have would be way to long for you as well. I am 6'3" and they fit perfect in the pants...it is just the chest and body length. I am thinking of taking them to a good leather worker and having an inch put in at the waist...it is worth it if I can have it done under 100 bucks given what I paid from them....

How the hell are we going to race against guys who consider themselves heavy at 145 lbs!? Well, I know it is tex's talent that will beat us (likely lap us), but we can alway use the excuse that he is a "skinny little shit..."

Pete,

I was thinking the same thing myself. How many HP would I have to add to my bike to make up the 80 lb. weight difference just to have the BIKE competitive, not even considering a newby scared shitless rider.

If you find someone to add onto your suit, maybe they could shorten the legs on mine. Let me know.
