JD,
Branson said he was in. He said he wants the team to be a mixture of Clever Dog Racing and Not Half Fast Racing. Like "Clever Asses" or "Not Half Dogs", something like that.

Actually he said he'd put a couple of laps in or crew. You know more like a gesture of being nice but really doesn't want to ride one of our roaches.

By a couple of laps I mean like 30!

Just don't blame me if it blows up. What's the redline on that bike?

I'm thinking we might not beat'em with speed, but maybe we can wear them down with our tenacity, or make their sides hurt from laughing.

Did he put new tires on that bike yet? Do the brake work...god this could be dangerous.

I vote for "Half Assed Dogs" or "Three Assed Dog" something like that.

well you should be able to get all the laps in you want. I won't be racing. serious budget issues with two vacant apartments has got my purse strings tighter than joe's ass when he went off the track at summit.

you guys are welcome to use the bike...that is if aaron still wants to fix it before the race. redline, what redline? there is no tach. it won't be getting new tires. the brake works ok. and yes, it could be dangerous. I really wish I was going but I'm not.

You know, Half Fast ought to camp out in the infield with the rest of the white folks instead of hanging out in those garages. All us 175 guys should be together. There is power, water, shade from the EZ-ups and awnings of friends. There's coffee, microwave, stove, frige, even some AC if you really need to cool off.

And by "all of us together" I mean all of YOU, should move to where I camp, not the reverse.

Hehehe, nothing like a well prepared race effort to intimidate the competition :)

I don't think well prepared would be the right term. I'd say more like broken-in. it says to the competition we ain't scared to slap the bike right down on the ground in front of you.

dude, thats the attitude. if i come across some $$$ for the weekend, i'll be sure and hook you for a race or 2. and the endurance race is cheap and good track time, if you split it up. jb, those guys love that t-11 area. its only been lately that they hang out in the garage area at all. besides, its better that way. araon snores really loud. well, sonja does, but we usually blame it on aaron for fun. you guys suck. and aaron, if youre looking for another ride, youre more than welcome to run with us. its going to be the usual group but we're riding my bike ths year. i need to get rid of those tires for next season. we should kick some ass.

thanks joe. if I look at it from a big boy perspective it's better that I don't go so I spend time working on my house. I hate responsibility.

as much as I'd like to blame sonja, or even aaron for snoring I have to take the credit. we slept in the garages one night on the benches and I think I drove out the donelans.

yeah, i know what you mean. im going to be pressed for this weekend too. i have a lame car insurance payment to make and rent and bills for the shop next month. not to mention the other crapola. and the added expense of the two race days screws everything up. i mean what the hell is that all about??? we've had the track for 2 days before. i know ive been up for practice on friday then races on saturday or something similar. 85 per day, the an extra 60, then the endurance race, then 160 for gas to get there. fuck. thats starting to sound like i wont make it. thats adding up to nearly 500 bucks w/ food, tolls etc...

Remember most of the two day events we've had at Loudon we are sharing the track with someone else. Like the Cars on Vintage Celebration. I do recall one race that was a two day event where single entries were about $110 for two days and then like $30 more for additional entries.

Bob must want to take more people to Italy with him next year.

Another thing to keep in mind is that other two day events have been Sunday Monday I think. Monday rent is only like 5000 compared to 10000 for a weekend day.

JB, The fees have nothing to do with Bob taking people to Italy!!! Unfortunately it is VERY expensive to put on an event. There are so many cost that go along with putting on a race. It's just an expensive proposition. I can tell you this, there have been events where the entry fees did'nt cover the expense and guess whos pocket it came out of???

Heck, don't buy grocery's for a week if you can't afford the fee and please remember not to bitch to Eve when you sign up....

i hate bringin the uscra politics over here, but i think jb is partly right. (not about taking people to italy) there have been days were we had a practice day before the races. whats the difference between that and a race. you mean to tell me george can manage to get 55 people to ride his school every time?? its all the more reason to find another place if its possible. if the track really is 5000 for a weekday, we should try more monday gigs. just because at 10000 its going to scare people from riding. also, id like to know what the car guys pay for the vintage celebration. are thier fees the same as ours? anyway, blah blah blah....

I'm sure it's quite expensive to put on a race. Specially at Loudon. But I'll be honest. I don't believe anyone is taking money out of their pocket. Not when I've had hundreds of dollars of checks go uncashed for sometimes up to six months. That's not indicative of a situation where money is short.
Personally I think Bob SHOULD be making money doing what he does. It's enough work that he should recieve some compensation. And for the most part racing with the USCRA is fairly inexpensive. I don't mind paying somewhat of a premium for NHIS, the facilities are the best of any track I've ever been to.

A little simple math tells us that if 100 people decide to race, and average about $150 with gate fees and bump classes...that's $15,000, plus gate fees/pit passes for non-riders. Plus 300+ members at $30 a year that's over $9000 into the kitty. So there's plenty of money out there. That doesn't include what's kicked in from sponsors. So there is no reason for anyone to be going broke running the USCRA. Of course there are expenses for printing, mailing, advertising and promoting.

I rarely hear people complain about how much it costs to race with the USCRA. The complaint that I do hear from many long time members is that they don't know where the money goes. Unlike AHRMA etc. there is no treasurer making out annual reports. And people being people, when there is an information vacume they tend to fill in the blanks themselves.

in maryland, through the comptrollers site, you can find out what businesses filed for taxes and claimed assets etc...bob should definitely be making money at this. what better situtation can you think of than to make money doing something you love?? the real issue is that there is nothing else. so youre stuck with them. and yeah, i do agree that i doubt the track is hurting for money. i still have uncashed moneys out there also. as for racing with the uscra, its as expansive as racing with any other club once things are said and done. after memberships and race entries, its all pretty much the same. and really, in the end, does it really matter where the money goes?? i mean, really??? do you ask the government where your taxes go?? youre probably better off not knowing. if my clients knew what they were paying for sometimes, they'd probably never talk to me again.

and we know its not eves fault. i love seeing eve back there. shes the queen of registration!

now shut up, pay, and race.

oh yeah, kirstens promises me that if we win the lottery big we can build a racetrack.
