Hello,

This may be a dumb question. I have a 1970 T500. A buddy of mine notice my chain was bouncing around when I rode. I checked it and it seems to have more play then it should. Do I have to first loosen the lock nuts on the wheel then change the chain adjuster lock nut and chain adjuster on each side? Or just loosen the chain adjuster lock nut and chain adjust. Also how much play should there be? I wanted to make sure because I was afraid that if I loosened the lock nuts on the wheel it may become out of line with the front tire. Thanks for any help.

1. Get the rear wheel off the ground.

2. Loosen axle nut.

3. Loosen chain adjuster lock nuts.

4. Tighten chain adjusters equally on both sides (use the index marks on the adjusters and swingarm for reference)

5. Leave about an inch to an inch and a half of vertical play in the chain.

6. Tighten adjuster lock nuts and axle nut.

7. Lube the chain.
