ok, pretty sure i ran the old cl out of fuel today on my lunch ride. i'm fairly certain that that was what happened. i filled the tank up and no more problem, but the higher idle i noticed before leaving the shop baffles me. would the idle increase w/ less fuel forcing the carbs? i've owned a few carb bikes but never noticed a tell tale sign of low fuel by a higher idle?? maybe the ol' girl was trying to tell me sumthin"

if the fuel level was low in the bowls

it would be lean and a symptom of that can be a high and/or surging idle

unless your lines/filters/petcocks/screens are partially clogged

head pressure...... or fuel level in the tank should not be an issue

maybe you should break those pieces down and see if you have an trash or debris to be seen

thanx, it just came to memory that the inline filters i have installed did have about 1/4 of the "normal" fuel in them when i started the bike! and i did have to switch to reserve before i'd get any flow at all. i'll bet that was another "obvious" sign that the fuel was low.... must have had a brain ...... hiccup!
