I know its scrap but thousands to insure?

Whats the average cost to insure say a street triple in Toronto?

Always interests me how costs in countries differ
Outrageous cost, if a younger rider bought a street triple to ride as his first ever motorcycle they could easy be looking at 3 or 4 thousand dollars annually if they could find somebody to even touch it. If they don't own the bike outright the creditors are going to insist on full coverage on their investment, so minimum insurance costs only happen if you own the bike outright.
Insurance companies don't cover modified motorcycles unless you are lucky, if you are going to modify a motorcycle you need to plate it and insurance and the modifications have to sort of grow on there with age lol

Here in the Philippines car/bike registration is pretty cheap. To have a compulsory emissions test, Third Party Insurance and Registration for a bike over 250cc costs a total of about $35AU (approx 18 quid). For my car it works out to be around $100AU.

Comprehensive insurance is expensive - it's worked out on the basis of the insurance company's estimated replacement value of the machine. Their estimate is always above true market value, so the insurance cost is inflated. For my Aprilia Shiver they estimated an insurance premium of 20,000p (almost $600AU depending on the exchange rate). Since I only ride it occasionally I couldn't justify/afford that kind of premium each year.

So, registration is cheap, but insurance is very expensive.

In Oz, I insured my Aprilia Falco and Harley FXST very cheaply as you can buy 'occasional use' insurance - if you only ride on the weekends and do limited miles, the insurance is peanuts.

That poor RD400.
Never been much into 2S, but I do appreciate them for what they were at the time. I rode a bike that a guy used to drag race in Queensland back in the 70's. It was a Kwaka 750 triple and was called Midnight or something like that - he even had his ute (utility vehicle - look it up) painted in a matching colour scheme, and he was quite successful for a while.

I rode it long after its best time. The strain of drag racing caused the gearbox bearings to elongate their housing (or so I understand) - so that it kept jumping out of every gear. Even so, when you got it running and it stayed in gear, it was the fastest bike that I had ever ridden off the mark and up to 100mph - even compared to my 1000cc kitted Honda 750/4.

I even bought a Suzi 500 Titan many years ago. But it was flogged out, and handled like a bag of wet horse shit, so I on-sold it to a mate who wanted it as a project bike. That project never happened. That was my first/last 2S motorcycle.

But yeah - back on point - that poor RD400 deserves better.

i see a stock honda 750f that doesnt look too bad.
Fair enough - it does look good but out of place on a site that claims:
Custom Made Cafe Racers, Bobbers, Street Fighters !!!

A bit pedestrian for such a claim.

Here's a pic of my Bol D'or 900 which was a daily work ride back in the day. I wouldn't put that up on a CR/Bobber/SF site as something special, but TBH, I really liked that bike:

Just seen this one. Really can't fathom why someone thought cutting off a huge chunk of frame was a good idea.
