Just seen this one. Really can't fathom why someone thought cutting off a huge chunk of frame was a good idea.

"Probably would run with a new starter" translation; has not attempted to bump start it, has not removed the starter motor to bench test it. Either of those would confirm it would run with a new starter. (almost impossible)
5 years storage outside or inside? makes a huge difference, if outside it's dried up rubber bits and rusty salvage parts only after 5 years outside.

Anything with carburetors is bound to need carburetor service after 5 years of non use.

1982 Yamaha Virago 920
condition: like new
fuel: gas
odometer: 677
title status: clean
transmission: manual
type: cafe racer
On the surface, a classic, custom rebuilt 1982 XV-920 Yamaha Virago cafe racer, but underneath, it’s all high-tech, German engineering, starting with the Motogadget M-unit blue which connects with your smartphone, via bluetooth for continuous dialogue and diagnostics, and to know what’s happening with the bike at all times.. All hardware, LED, and wirings are brand new, top of line, German-made by Motogadget, including the motoscope mini which displays all info (speedo/RPM/Odo/time) in digital, making for a sleek, uncluttered triple-tree/handlebars (see pic #2). The M-unit blue gives you many different options for alarm (very sensitive to silent mode), brake light, signals, and horns, allowing you to customize your preference (e.g., 3 blink, 5 blink, or continuous light).

There’s also the M-lock which is a keyless fob- no keys and you have to know where to place the fob to turn the bike on, for additional security. OR, you have the option of turning the bike on via your smartphone, simply by walking close enough to it (it will detect your phone in proximity). I’ve gotten quite a few reactions just by walking to my bike and it lights up without me doing a single thing!

Videos and many more pics available for serious inquiries.

This is an ONE of a kind bike that turns many heads and gets many comments, wherever I ride it.

Also comes with LOTS of spare parts, including a backup engine to cannibalize parts from (pic below), backup rear drive, backup TCMI.

Oil/lube changed at beginning of every riding season.

Selling for $10,000. I put a lot of time and money into this project and hate to part with it, but I have two other BMW projects I want to focus on.

Below are some of the many modifications and upgrades.

-Motogadget M-blue unit which connects with your smartphone, supplying diagnostics and info.
-Rewired with all new wiring and solid waterproof German-made Molex connectors
-Custom built and milled anodized black billet top tree with clean clutter-free interface
-Motogadget Motoscope-Mini digital speedometer/RPM/odometer/time
-Motogadget M-switches
-Motogadget M-blaze signals
-Custom seat mount
-Custom gas tank
-Low carbon custom-milled anti-shatter Billet Steel EBC racing brake rotors.
-Motogadget M-lock keyless fob
-Antigravity lithium battery
-Rebuilt brake calipers (front/rear)
-Rebuilt Yamaha ’07-’08 YZF R1 front end forks/triple tree
-New 4 brush SS starter motor, made in Tawain, NOT the Chinese version!
-New NGK spark plug caps/ Accel #140408 single fire supercoils
-New Rick’s Li-compatible rectifier
-Rebuilt throttle cable/throttle
-Rebuilt rear swingarm with all new bushings/gaskets/washers hardware, fresh lube/lubricant
-Rebuilt and cleaned carbs
- Metzeler motorcycle tires
-New custom-order Hagon monoshock

Downsides:
kickstand must retracted by hand
pipes are aftermarket.. never got around to doing custom pipes

Looks vaguely familiar  did we see that turd here before, was that one of those 'projects' some pup built for 'himself', left most of the vital parts off because he liked the 'look' of it and now wants to sell it for as much as a brand new motorcycle ?

I like the understated 'downsides' - like that's all that's wrong with it. 10 thousand dollars for a Virago, whatever the mods, seems a little extreme to me...and reading through the list of mods looks like tack on stuff....but hey someone will probably buy it.

This is what got me:

"-New 4 brush SS starter motor, made in Tawain, NOT the Chinese version!"
Wooaaahhh there! Try telling a Taiwanese that they are Chinese - it's like telling a Canadian they are American.

Taiwanese are very serious about their national identity.

As to the quality of their products compared to China...possibly better because China builds stuff for many markets - from the poor 3rd world countries up to 1st world countries, and product quality varies according to what the country can pay.
