I am going to the mid ohio show for the first time--not to race, but for the swap meet.

If you have gone can someone tell me what the parking situation is there--how close to the vendors, etc?

I am thinking about trailering a bike there to ride from the hotel to the event if taking the mini van will be a big hassel. The problem with taking a bike is how to get anything bigger than a breadbox back to the motel.

Any advice is appreciated.

I may be popping my mid ohio cherry also this year. The best I can do is say the website has a map of the grounds and how everyting is going to be laid out. I am pretty sure parking is going to be a nightmare anyway you slice it but if you intend to buy then bring the van.

Jack, Geeto, I'll be there in space Z-18 in the swap meet. Stop by and bring beer!! Jack, don't worry about parking. Just show up like everybody else. Parking isn't a issue. Bring LOTS of $$$ cause you'll be wantin' stuff.

VMD is by far the best show for us vintage folks. Tons of fun, all kinds of action going on.

hey champ,

I didn't get a space but I may be bringing some stuff to sell (sandcast cb750 parts and some hotrod cb750 stuff), can I bring them down to your table to sell if I cut you in?

Yeah, parking's no big deal. The swap meet is fuggin HUGE and there's plenty of parking in the field next to the vendor area.

I'm there every year working with the Rice Paddy (we'll be right up front, near the track) and helping out some friends who are racing (AHRMA #916 and #906 in the paddock).

If you're looking for rare shit, get there Friday morning.

Who else is going?

Racers? Vendors? Turistas?

bring a bike, the place is huge, budget your time, you can easily spend the whole 3 days wandering the swap meet, but you'll miss alot of other cool stuff going on all over..

I'll be camped in the main camping area....

No garbage, I don't buy or collect garbage, I thow it away. It isn't that much, maybe 4 or 5 items and they are mostly big ticket things, for instance: a pristine set of K0 sandcast gauges where everything works, an NOS Tracy Racing Fiberglass tank for cb750 (techincally it is a new thing so it will fit right in), An NOS set of gauges for a 78 CB750F are the principal things I want to get rid of. I have a little challenge for myself and that is I want to see if I can raise enough money to buy a running motorcycle with the parts I have.

besides I need to get another set of clipons off of you while I am there. 35mm.

Jack,

One thing to keep in mind. Make sure the bike you're taking has a license plate. The more recent the better. The mid-ohio rules makers want a street legal bike around their land so make sure you meet the regulations for the state you live in. i.e. put a plate on it and no one will care.

When are you heading west?

Craig,

I am leaving late Thursday morning. It is about an 8 hour drive. My friend made the hotel arrangements so I don't know where we will be.
The bikes I would take are both all NY legal. Seems like parking will not be a problem as someone is going to give me thier vendor 2nd parking permit, so I may not take a bike. Seems like it would be more fun with a bike to ride to the different events though. Are you going?

DCH- make sure we meet up--I owe you a beer or cup of coffee still.

Champ-- will you have any USCRA shirts there? I would like a caferacer.net shirt but always forget to order one until the last minute. Mybe JD could rush one out to me.

JackC,

Yep, I'm leaving ( I think ) wed. evening. Should get there early Wed. afternoon. I'm planning on being on the lower level near the garages.

Don't buy anything from Champ. His prices are too high. Unless you bring beer. Then they go way down.

Hey, uh, champ. What's your real name? I'm gonna feel kinda funny walking around asking strangers if they are "champ" (or "Dill Weed" for that matter).

If you swing by the Paddy space, I'm Eric. (They'll probably know who you're talking about if you ask for "krapfever" anyway. Don't know how I feel about that...)

Craig, you must be going the long way, west to east to get there before you leave! I'll take Champ some beer since I want a Ducati Narrow case mag puller he may have.
