Not that anyone cares, much less agrees, but I'm with the 'puffed up women' on the helmet. I find the whole woman-as-object/something-to-be-looked-at (instead of someONE that can look back)/pin-up thing as degrading to women in concept as porn in general. It's offensive, and not just to women.

Now, now catboy....not everybody likes to look at porn and touch themselves on a park bench like you do. Somethings are best done in private.

There is a difference between art and good taste by the way. Just because something qualifies as "art" does not mean it doesn't also offend or do something in bad taste. See Robert Maplethorpe (but not on a work computer) for examples. The, now faded green, reclining woman in an american flag bikini on my helmet is most assuredly bad taste, but that was kind of the fun of it.

So.....Let's get a sign up going. I think I am going to grab an HJC next week and I'll send it to Judey first, but let's figure out who will get it afterward to add their art to it. The onyl ground rule is to keep it PG (maybe PG13). Crude drawings of a penis of the type you would find on a mens room wall = not cool. However "For a good time call Jenny 867-5309" style men's room wall scribblings are ok. The only other ground rule is if you add to it you must put your net handle on it some where, as all artists sign their work. Final thing: if you lack artistic talent racing decals or stickers from local food joints, bars, etc count. The weirder the better. Got a Vegan barbeque place near you with a catchy slogan? game on!

Jag, why don't you an Larrybones collaborate on the design, that way both your names end up on it and I have zero influence on the artwork. Since Larry is literally my neighbor he could either be the first or last stop on the chain. The only thing I might add to it is the CR.net logo. One thing that surprises me jag is that since you live near Rochester for school it didn't occur to you to add a nick tahou's bumper sticker, house of guitars decal, or something from the Goshen Airpower museum.

Spiff: Wasn't a single sexist comment made. If it had been a bunch of pansy assed dudes giving Geet's friction for ficking helmet art I'd have mentioned them as well. Frankly I think 'puffed up women' is a pretty safe term.

Heavens! Are we really enmeshed in a discussion about misogyny/sexism at my favorite motorcycling website?!
I'm recalling a radio interview I heard quite a while ago, about the feminization of America, where the subject of the interview bemoaned the lack of "Pub Culture" in America. American men aren't really allowed to have special relationships with other men (spare me the homo rhetoric... there's really nothing wrong with that) they way "mates" do in Britain or Australia. There's something to be said for the idea that "Boys will be boys." A friend used to attribute my divorce, in part, to the fact that "You need to pop that bitch in the mouth!" more often... said only at the pub, while the bitch was nowhere to be found. In her presence, he was always polite & respectful, and in fact, her friend. And true or not, I really needed to agree with him every once in a while to maintain my male gender card (off the record, that bitch really did need to be popped in the mouth much more often). Further, many of the pin-up nose art subjects painted on planes in WWII were, in fact, tributes to wives or girlfriends back home.
I like women... especially naked women (and I have 3 children to prove it), and I'm not ashamed to say so. I like the shape of them, and I like the feel of them, and I'm not afraid to say so... especially here, among my bad-ass motorcycle racing mates! I mean, if I can't be a manly man who loves women here, where can I be one? Christ! What's more manly than racing motorcycles... (or enjoying nekkid women, for that matter)?

Now, with that off my chest... should I assume I have no choice but to decorate the helmet with a motorcycling troll? Are semi-nude troll women motorcycle racers off limits? Are the little Ramones to add their touches too? Is there a space limit? What if I'm the first one to have a go, and get greedy, taking up more than my fair share of decorating space on the helmet? Do I have to add my name to the sign-up list? This has all become so vague & confusing.

I like the idea of a space limit for the reason that it may create a cool visual from a distance but the closer look tells the story. I forget the name of it when artists use small pictures to create a large picture, but you get what I mean.
I assume Geeto has a good idea of who he would prefer as contributing "artists" so all he has to do is some quick math and he can set a rough space limit. That way he won't end up with things of varying scale and throw off the overall asthectic. If it's set to 2 square inches and you choose to put a sticket on it than it should be somewhere in that range, a drawing, a self portrait, etc... so you end up with a "tiles".
Thats just me though.

Judey,
Dough came in today. I gotta find some dry ice and I'll get it out to you. I'll let you know when I ship it.
