Do you have a salvage yard that has motorcycles in your area? If so, just walk around with a caliper and tape measure, you should be able to find all kinds of springs for the rear.
The obvious problem with changing forks is compatability with brake/wheel/fender/axle. You just gotta look close at all that.
'Course you can always get stiffer springs for the stock forks, and there's no end of choices for aftermarket rear shocks, Works Performance, Progressive, etc. Look in the back of Cycle News.
