Hey Guys,

I just picked up my first project bike. I have some experience on old bikes on my dad's but this is the first where I hold the title and have creative control. I picked it up last night in lovely -10 degree weather. It is way too cold to anything but take pictures for now, so that's what I did. It's a '73 with about 20k on the clock. Runs pretty well, needs some cosmetic work. Still has the original factory exhaust. Haven't yet decided what the first project is on it, but it will definitely be something that can be done from my heated house. Potentially rebuilding the brake calipers. Anyway, enough words. Here are pictures.

And yeah, that's a kz650 in the background. It belongs to my dad but for storage space reasons it is in my garage.

Nice bike! I love seeing bikes in garage photos, just to see what else is in there--yours is too neat! What is that grey coupe? Can't see enough of the back window to tell- but at first glance maybe Porsche 924, though the nose doesn't look long enough????? Probably just a dodge shadow.

Wow, scarry. I just bought a 73' CB450 on ebay today. Same color, though yours looks to be in better shape. My paint's kinda faded, may repaint British racing green, and a tan seat. Just a thought. Love the 944, my hands down favorite Porsche of all time.

Dodge Shadow?!?<img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

It's a 1987 Porsche 944. Indeed, it is a fun car. It's a bit dirty right now and, unfortunately, put away for the winter. None of my fun vehicles can handle the snow very well.

Obviously not a shadow. Nice car! I hear you about no snow with the fun rides. maybe I should get into snowmobiles, but being cold sucks. I get sick of only the minivan with 4 studded snows.

Can't wait until spring to get the '91 Miata out, along with the bikes.

Nice scoot ya picked up their. CB450's are great little bikes, as they are small enought o whip around, yet big enough to take on the tollway. Mine looked allot like yours till I tore into it -->

Good job for keeping the stock paint (as I did). Is only
original once...

Plans are fairly minimal so far. I pulled the brake caliper off today and I'm cleaning out all the crap. It froze shut in the cold and I couldn't move the bike very easily, so I pulled it and it's all gunked up. Does anyone have a good site for ordering general parts like caliper seals and pads? In the near future I also plan to pull the side covers/air box and upgrade the filter, clean up the chrome, replace the seat cover, and remove the layer of grime from the engine. I don't intend to do anything that cannot be undone, so probably not sawing of tabs or anything like that just yet. We'll see though, don't quote me.

Proteal, have you lowered the crowns on the forks or is that how low it normally sits. ive seen loads of bikes on he net, including yours and its kinda nice to know that normal dudes are producing them and not shops, im presuming you dont have a shop.

sorry to go off the topic a bit
