i'm sure there are nearly as many mounting methods as there are little hondas with the dynas. mine is pretty shabby but worked. i just used the stock bracket, but drilled and screwed and JB'd four little squares of aluminum stock where the OEM coils usually mount, then i drilled new holes in the new aluminum "decks" and fastened the coils to those. so in effect, i just moved out the mounting holes by adding some flat aluminum. i just tried to leave some pics but i'm on my girlfriends computer and she has no image editor and the raw shots off my camera are friggin poster sized.

good luck.

tim's advice is solid!

however if you are lazy like me, you can order the bracket kit off of dyna. i was too lazy to do that too, so i scammed a spare set off of cmarsh.

tt, how big were your new platforms, and did you relocate your key tumbler and horn? when all was said and done did your stock tank still fit?

inquiring minds.........

I was able to fab a new bracket out of the old one (without any additional parts) but dammit I can't remember how. It involved cutting the old bracket, drilling a coupla holes, flipping it over(?!?) and using the Dyna's themselves as "stressed members"....?

The bike's at my shop space, I can get pics and post them tomorrow.

scott-

sorry, i missed this for a few days, but won't be much help now either. first, i'm not sure of the size of the adaptors...likely each one is a bit different, i just held the stock in place, drew a few lines and cut with bolt cutters. the plates in back need to be bigger than the ones in front. second, the key tumbler and horn are both in a box somewhere, so they're not in the way. finally, i'm using an SL350 tank which doesn't hang down as much as the CB but does rub the coils ever so slightly, so i'm not sure if the stock tank would be a problem. i think the Dashing Dominican used a stock tank and just had to tap the sheet metal a couple of times to get the tank to slip over the coils?

Scott,

I'm the Dashing Dom! Yes it's a bit tight using the stock tank but it can be done. I actually banged the inside sides in a bit to make it fit a bit more easily, not alot just a bit. It's still tight but it will fit so just take your time and be nice. Good luck.

I was thinking if I should put my name on my leathers:

736,

Okay, so a week later and here's some pics...

Just cut the stock bracket, mount the coils to get an idea of the new spread, drill a new hole in the frame, find some sexy alan-head bolts and mount 'em up. The ignition switch and condenser are hanging off the other side of the frame bolts after a little cutting. I can't recall any other issues; it's been a couple of years...

thanks for all the help guys, now i have to find a tank that will fit over the new coils. the cl tank won't come anywhere close no matter how much banging i give to the underside........wait a minute i thought i was talking about motorcycles.

i've got a manky 450 tank, and i figure that i could cut and weld some knee pockets into. hmmmmm
