This is my first motorcycle. Just got my temps today, and am waiting on a coil coming from ebay so I can ride the bugger.

Got it for $400, hadn't been on the road since '92. Cleaned the carbs and set the points and she ran like a top, then we ground out a wire when we put the points cover on and fried the coil, oops.

I went down to Mid-Ohio and luckily found a new starter button for it since it was busted, kicking it started getting old heh.

400 dollars O_O!!!!! wow that looks fantastic for the price, and those exhausts are rad! from as far as i can tell in the pictures.

hopefully it treats you well, i still have to clean the carbies on my 250 since they are running horrible.

No matter how old they get, guys don't understand when to take their bikes to the shop, even after 3 stripped oil plugs and a completely missing set of engine mounts.

oh ya once I took care of all the little rust spots on the chrome she really does look great. Just need to polish the wheels and engine and it'll look awesome, other than the small dents and scratches on the tins. I was told the exhaust had holes burned in it, I dunno I haven't taken the mess apart, its all gooped with that exhaust sealer then has the sheet metal hose clamped to it, I'd like to get a 2 into 1 sometime, should give me more clearance for rear sets at least!

yeah sounds good, just take your time with the exhaust, i had a HELL of a time doing the rear cylinder in my vtwin yamaha once... horrid beast, but these look ALOT simpler and easier to fix.

Can anyone suggest me some good clubmans for this bike? How about the seat? As far as Jap bikes go most everything I find either seems to be for a Honda or a Yamaha XS650, I may just buy a universal one with the right dimensions from Glass from the Past when the time comes around.

Go for some new mufflers. A buddy of mine tried to use the exhaust sealer goop on his GS450 and it didn't work too well. Halfway into a 400 mile roadtrip the goop blew out of the muffler, resulting in horrid performance and gas mileage.

Ninja 500 mufflers work great on the XS400. They look a bit goofy, but they're cheap and work well. I got a pair for my XS for $20, and she runs better than ever.

not to dog zman but you can probably buy clubies for less at your local shop. my shop isn't known for being cheap and i still got mine for $20

correction: champ, not zman, i meant, i hear all his gear is top notch and if i ever get a wee bike i'll be touch for a set of those mini clubmans.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do plan on going with a 2-1 at sometime, hopefully over the winter. Right now my truck is taking all of my money. Not the truck in the picture, thats my buddies truck I did all the body work on, I've got a Ranger myself.

ya I imagine the shipping ain't cheap. Though now I may go for a set of clip ons instead since I figured out a way to make room on my forks without messing with the headlight.

hell I haven't even measured them yet..but thanks for letting me know...that sucks. What bike can I get the trees and forks off of to upgrade? Would XS650 trees and forks work?
