Welcome Timber. I had an R65 /7, loved it except that it pinged mercilessly unless you were either full throttle or about 1/8 throttle. Everything in between was detonation. I'd heard it was because the compression was too high for the "new" unleaded fuel, and that I could fix it by installing an extra base gasket to lower the compression. I traded it for a Guzzi...
