Thanks for having me.

I used to be member of this forum a long time ago. I never posted much but read it daily for years. I forgot my old login info so here's a new profile. I guess you could say I am a new old member.

My current bikes:
1979 Triumph Bonneville

1971 Honda CB750 K1

1971 BSA B50

I am starting to gather parts to build another CB750. Wish me luck.

Thanks
Scott

I like the T140. By some coincidence I have a late 77 T140V in the shop being torn down for a complete rebuild. It's easy to understand some of the design decisions given the financial state of Triumph at the time, but things like brake hose deisgn and caliper and engine mounts are just nasty designs that must add a lot to the cost of manufacturing back in the day.

Triumph Meriden seemed to be always just adapting existing designs rather than clean sheet development. The funny thing is they managed to make an excellent motorcycle through all the financial problems. The T140 just works. The old joke about the rear disk brake is they built the master cylinder and then built the bike around it.

Ouch. That is so true. How many brackets are there and stays and bolts and the world's heaviest master cylinder and most complicated and heavy brake lever and linkage. Nice bikes but I am so tempted to fit a small light brembo rear master cylinder, but I ordered a new Girling unit from the UK. I had a few unit and pre-unit 500s back in the day. This is my first OIF resto.
