Just joined the forum.

I usually post on the CB1100F forum but those guys aren't really into
Caferacers.

My bike is coming along, I have a link in my profile to my photobucket album for anyone who might be interested.

I'm kinda caught between caferacer and streetfighter with it, I recently installed 900RR forks and have a F4 swingarm going on it soon.

used to be a member over at cb1100f.net, still check in once in a while. They get pretty ellitest for a bunch of guys who own 30 year old bikes. I'm surprised by the cafe racer hatred, usually they just rag on choppers and crusier bikes.

BTW awsome friggin pic in your profile - that is a badass little bike. I'm sure those guys hit the roof when you cut up a 900f to monoshock it.

I don't think they hate Caferacers they just aren't into that kind of modification and they are pretty exclusive as far as brand and model.

There are a few guys there that have put monoshock setups on their bikes but they look pretty stock.

There is this guy I know from other forums who is a back in the day chopper builder. Always hondas and has been doing it since the cb750 first came out. The bikes he makes are not gaudy, but they are choppers. So he has this cb1100F that got wadded up in a low speed accident - so what does he do? he builds a chopper out of it. He posts it to the cb1100f.net forum and they pretty much run him out of there on a rail. Most weren't even nice. I said it was a cool project and at least he was getting some use out of a wrecked bike and they lambasted me too. Every couple of months some newbie to the forum discovers his website - posts pics and a whole bunch of people lambast him again. it is ellitest bull crap and enough to make you puke. Sure choppers are not for everyone but still no need to be a jerk about it.


Anyway LNewman - lets get some more pics and spec of your bike. it is a killer project and I totally can't wait to see it finished.

I like the bike, really hulky looking.

I don't get the narrow-minded. I like most all genres of motorcycles and don't understand people who slam everything but what they're into. I.E.I like Harley's, but a lot of the Harley people won't even talk to you if you ride something else. Motorcycles are about symetry, design, beauty and the beast, power, finesse, metal, aluminum, carbon-fiber, iron, rubber, paint and even rust sometimes. They're like the blues: the pentatonic scale and 12 bars and someone will always find a new way to play it, always.

That shock is an Aldan its a cheap coilover that I put on there to hold the bike up.

I plan on using a shock from an Honda Hawk. The suspension is setup without any linkage.

I thought it would look cleaner with the shock mounted that way.

Nice bike. I've got a KZ1000 LTD I'm grafting a ZRX1200 Swinger onto. Not as radical as yours but still fun.

that is a badass looking bike. wish mine looked half as good. i'd actually like to have a cb1100f, they came out whne i was in high school and they were the bike to have. i also am into any bike at all, as long as you get your knees in the breez it's cool. in addition to cafes i'm heavily into choppers, nice, basic bobbers. in fact i've decided to do a hardtail chop with this cb450 that was given to me.

some people are like slinkies, basically useless but they still make me smile when i push them down the stairs
