Hey everyone I just picked up a 82 Honda CM450E it fires right up in not too bad of condition either. I was wonder what is a good site to shop around or where do you get ideas from? I am really excited to redo this bike and make it into something that everyone enjoys to look at, oh yeah and is a blast to ride. Thank you for reading this and excited to see where this takes me.

Welcome rider (y) the most over-looked service item on a used motorcycle is the front forks followed by suspension and wheel bearings, you can buy all those things on spec at a local shop that specializes in such things. Your drum brakes can likely be improved with professional help and the first upgrade I would normally do on a bike equipped with steel hoops is to upgrade to aluminum rims in a size that can fit radial tires followed by replacing the rear antiquated shocks along with upgrade the steering head bearing and swingarm bushing to bearing.

Does it suffer from any carburetor issues, flat spots in the power band issues difficulty starting stalling hesitation shite fuel economy etc? I have some ideas on how you might improve those issues when you experience them.

Hey thanks for the good place to start, It starts right up when you crank it over, I haven't noticed any carb issues as of yet. But i will be cleaning those i am sure they could use it. The bike was parked in 18 and it was a daily ridden bike. It has upgraded shocks in the rear already. The front forks could be serviced wheel bearings is a great idea as well as the head bearing as well. Would you know of a place to look for new wheels? Thank you for taking the time and giving me this advice.
I would do a full front to rear service (using a Clymer or haynes manual) before changing up the wheels.

That being said, you'll want new tires too... so Google motorcycle axle diameter spreadsheet/list and see what other bikes share the same axle diameter as yours. Additionally, you can use the AllBalls website to figure out what wheel bearings you can use to get a different wheel to fit ypur axle as well.

Once you find the wheels that will fit your axle, you need to make sure they either fit your existing axle spacers or will fit with custom spacers made by your friendly local machine shop.

Motorcycle scrap yard is the only place you will find the whole wheel at an affordable cost The rims and spokes is all I would be replacing given the age and model of the bike. Buchanan's Spoke & Rim, Inc

Local motorcycle shops don't inventory much of anything anymore and even the scrap yards will disappear soon enough, there's not enough money in it. I know where you can buy an entire scrap yard of motorcycles if you like.

Your CM450E was the economy version 450, the CB450S was the sport performance version that featured a strong frame etc.
... rims were 18"
