Newly interested in cafe racers

Hey all,
For quite a while I've liked the look cafe racers, but I didn't know what they were. Since then I've done some research and got a bike. The bike I have isn't really suited to the cafe style: 1984 Kwasaki 700LTD. I came across a 1978 Yamaha XS400 for sale and am thinking about picking it up as a cafe reacer project. Does anyone have experience with these bikes? Pros or cons? The bike appears to be in great shape. http://boston.craigslist.org/mcy/106769713.html As you can see, he is asking $600 for it, does this seem to be a fair price to you guys? Any other advice or opinions would be welcome.

No, I didn't get it. I don't have a location to store and work on a project like this right now. And the money that I would put into this could better be used on my other bike and other things right now. I do definately intend to get something like this at some point, but now just isn't right for me. Thanks for the info, I'm sure I'll be reading plenty and asking questions about when I do get a project.
